Google as both Friend, and Foe

1 March 2007

Article in today’s SMH entitled “Your Life in the Public Domain”, caught my eye.
A fairly accurate account of how anyone, anywhere, will have some record of their life preserved online, often for eternity.
According to the US National Association of Colleges and Employers Job Outlook 2007 survey, more than one in 10 employers review […]

Snooty Dogs

28 February 2007

I’m stuck up on the North Shore at the moment, babysitting Mother’s spoodle , Cindy, and waiting for Foxtel to come and deliver her new IQ box.
Naturally, this young puppy is exceptionally spoiled, with every latest designer dog accessory and squeaky toy. Would you expect anything else up here in the lovely province of […]

Dat New Fangled RSS Thang

27 February 2007

You know… despite my apparent Tech-savvy appearence, I can sometimes be a little slow to catch onto modern trends. Sure, I was quick to jump on the Blogging bandwagon over 4 years ago just before it began to develop into a social status symbol, but things like podcasts and vodcasts still elude me. And would […]

VNet Relaunch

22 February 2007

Work is still continuing on synchronising VolaciousNet with LiveJournal. It’s trickier than it sounds… The attempt it to write a php script to download both posts and comments, and insert them properly into WordPress.
There is a method, using LJArchive and WP Import, but it doesn’t thread the comments, and the XML is known to stuff […]

1 October 2006

Hiya pplz!
Long time since updates, I know. This year is flying past at an alarming rate, and I can’t believe it’s spring already and I feel like going to the beach!
The news from up here is that Shelton is growing like a weed, getting a lot bigger, and a lot naughtier! He’s doing well… he […]

4-45am

12 June 2006

Hiya Gang
I’m on night 2 of my 6 night run of night shifts. I still haven’t done any study… I would have tonight, but TV 1 was running a Stargate SG-1 Marathon. Season, 6, with that uber-hottie Jonas Quinn, played by Colin Nemec, who was a secret obsession of mine until I found out tonight […]

eBay mobiles?

19 March 2006

Good, fair people…
I need advice on whether I should go ahead and buy a mobile phone from eBay.
Has anyone else had experience with doing this, and found pitfalls / benefits etc?
For example, I can pick up one of those nice new Motorola v3 RAZR’s for $300 on eBay, or bay $499 for a network-locked one […]

There\’s a big geek in all of us….

11 March 2006

Time for a mandatory extra-geeky post. If you don’t understand what I’m about to say, have a read of this article, by the infamous Miranda Devine, titled Geeks in White Coats Shall Inherit the Earth, in which she says a number of truisms about modern society, that knowledge is now power, and those with particular […]

The big suck

31 December 2005

Hello all !!!
I don’t know why, but it’s 4:35am and I’m absolutely hyper. Go figure. I think these night shifts are getting to me!
I have a huge urge to go clubbing, partly to do with the fact that it’s silly season, it’s 4am, and I’m listening to the Anthem (i.e. dance anthems) music channel on […]
